Artist:  Mary Pat Menard

Location:  Cafeteria supporting column

Size:  31"W x 64"H

About this mural:  The subject of theatre is a broad one and had to be narrowed down to fit on a pillar in the cafeteria, so I chose harlequins as actors displaying masks of comedy and tragedy. The background was kept neutral and classical because the costumes were colorful. It was my privilege to be allowed to express my passion for the art and theatre departments which were a large part of my high school experience. I was inspired and encouraged by my English and Speech teachers, Mr. Pryzbilla and Mr. Dalen, as well as my Art teacher, Mr. Ron Johnson. I am eagerly looking forward to seeing the nearly sixty years of murals by students. It was a wonderful idea and I’m grateful to have been there in the early days. - Mary Pat (Menard) Hubbard - May, 2018
