Artist:  Ruthie Y. Dehnhoff

Location:  Cafeteria northeast wall

Size:  94"W x 75"H

I have a very vivid memory of having the honor to paint the mural in the cafeteria in 1986. I remember Mr. Johnson having dates as to when he expected each step of the project to be completed. I also remember meeting with him several times as I was worried about scale and having the shadows be correct. Mr. Johnson was very patient and kind and answered all of my questions. He believed in me, when I didn't believe in my own capabilities. I was inspired by the log home my parents built for our family in Isabella from 1978 to 1980. It was a family affair as we all helped with stripping the bark from the logs and staining once the structure was up. My Father still lives in this log home today. Painting this mural was incredibly good for my young self esteem and I still enjoy art to this day. I have passed this love on to both of my children, as well. I like to think Mr. Johnson had a lot to do with my love for the arts. He allowed my young imagination to run free. For that, I will forever be grateful.  - Ruthie Dehnhoff Noethe, January, 2019
